Louis Vuitton Damier

Introduced in 1888, the Damier line was designed by Louis Vuitton and his son, Georges Vuitton, preceding the Monogram design. Inspired by the traditional Japanese “Ichimatsu” checkered pattern, it was named “Damier,” the French word for checkerboard. The beige and dark brown checkered motif is distinctive, exuding a refined sense of luxury in its simplicity. At the time, the Damier pattern was applied to Louis Vuitton trunks and was cherished for many years.
